As an Executive Wellness and Performance Consultant, although I work with all genders, I have spent years coaching women through every major life stage including adolescence, pre‑natal, post‑natal, the menopause transition and later life.
Being a woman and a mother naturally shapes the deeply personal approach I bring to training women. I combine my lived experience with science‑backed support, tailored to each woman’s life stage. My approach is shaped by empathy and a genuine understanding of the physical and emotional shifts women navigate throughout their lives. With this mindset, I was delighted to be approached to speak on the “All Things Women’s Health Panel” at the 2025 Aranini Fest at the Tiffany Amber Gardens, Lagos, Nigeria.
The “All Things Women’s Health” panel covered hormones, mental health, fertility, and caring for your body at every life stage. I was honoured to join a stellar line-up of women:
Abisola Audifferen – General Manager, Provita Clinic
Dr Kemi Da Silva Ibru – Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Founder of WARIF
Dr Yemisi Adeyemi Bero – Managing Director of Ark Clinic and Fertility
Dr Joyce Omatsaye – General Practitioner, Founder of Are Nini Health
I answered questions relating to nutrition, the gut microbiome, and the all-encompassing, vital role that physical activity plays in women's overall wellbeing beyond its aesthetic benefits. It was also rewarding to help debunk certain myths, including the misconception that weightlifting automatically causes women to bulk up.
My key takeaways
〰️Around 70–80% of the body’s immune cells are located in the gut, An unhealthy gut microbiome (dysbiosis) can contribute to immune dysregulation and inflammation, and some reports link dysbiosis to certain cancers, joint pains and migraines. A healthy gut can influence anxiety & mood; mental clarity & memory; blood glucose regulation & body weight.
🏃♀️➡️ Physical activity is not a cure-all, but it remains one of the strongest pillars of wellness - supporting digestive and emotional regulation, mental clarity, cardiovascular health, and the relief of various menopausal symptoms.
🏋️♀️ Women can gain strength, muscle definition (“tone”), and shape through weight lifting; but because their testosterone levels are much lower than men’s, it’s highly unlikely they will develop the often-dreaded “hulk bulk” from weight lifting alone.
Equally inspiring was not only seeing the presence of men in the audience, but witnessing their genuine interest as they asked thoughtful questions related to women's health. This was truly heartwarming to observe, and it also left me reflecting on how much more needs to be said, discussed and shared about women and their health.
It’s clear that the appetite for informed, meaningful dialogue around women’s health is growing. I’m grateful to Ara Nini for creating this festival and for giving me the opportunity to contribute to such an important conversation. I’m energised by the momentum and genuinely excited for what comes next.
